Hi gang! Sometimes it’s useful to look at where Karma is useful, and where Karma is less useful. Recently, it feels like comments are just getting spammed, with dozens of repeat comments being copied/pasted across multiple submissions. Or five comments on the same submission where one would suffice (if at all). There are always useful comments and questions to be answered, but there can be times when these are drowned out.
Karma is supposed to reward contribution, and we want to know what you think of this. Please note, if we reduce or eliminate Karma on commenting, we will reapportion equal or greater amounts of Karma to other actions (like: logging in, contributing competitions, reaching the front page, voting on comments etc).
Perhaps voting on comments would be an especially good idea to encourage users to “filter” a bit, what is useful and what is not.
So what do you think? Would you miss Karma on comments? Are we wrong? Or would you like to see less Karma for comments and more for reaching the “published” section? Let us know in the comments below.
Thanks!
