Competition Hunter is changing hands today. It is joining the Accolade publishing group, who is responsible for things like Compers News and The Prizefinder, which many of you will be very familiar with. Let me say before anything else: Accolade are very aware of what makes Competition Hunter work, and also aware of what they could do to make it better, and they will do this intelligently, and sensitively. This is why it was our overwhelming preference to join them. They are a trusted party, and they are keen to invest in the community and arguably grow and develop Competition Hunter to a level that we could not on our own. All-in-all, there’ll be more content, more competitions, and certainly a lot more care and attention, which can only be a good thing.
Please note: there’s nothing you need to do or change because of this, things will continue to function as normal.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you all for believing in the site, and helping to grow it into a serious community which is and always has been decent and welcoming, with never a bad word uttered (which is rare, let me tell you). Some of you have been here from the very beginning, through all CH’s different stages, have nurtured it, and have seen it grow up. Thank you. You have made the site what it is, and under Competition Hunter’s new stewardship, I hope you will continue to do so. I will of course keep my account open and I’m sure I’ll stop by from time to time!
It just remains for me to introduce Michelle from Accolade:
A big hello from me and the team. Just a little bit about Accolade Publishing, we are a very small team and currently produce a magazine called Compers News and also have an online competition site ThePrizefinder.com, but what makes us unique is that we are all dedicated compers who love and enjoy our hobby! Therefore, I would like to give you our assurances that we will definitely be wearing our “comping hats” when we takeover the site.
Just to reiterate what Iain has said, you have all played a big part in making the site what it is and I truly hope that you will want to stay with us. We are very mindful that CompetitionHunter.com is a real community and will only work with your contributions, therefore we are really keen to know what we can do to improve the site for you, therefore if you have any suggestions, please, please, please do let us know at michelle@accoladepublishing.
Regards, Michelle & The Team
